Yatton Junior Football club — Web Design Case Study

Designing a simple wordpress website for my sons club

This web design case study outlines my wordpress web design work. I helped redesign and build a website that could be updated and maintained easily by the club.

The challenge

Yatton junior football club required a new website designed to field enquiries, provide details about the club and promote events.

My responsibilities

I was responsible for recommending the domain name and WordPress as a content management system. This enabled the club to post updates about events and activities. Additionally I created page layouts and built out the website design in WordPress.

Collaboration:Working closely with the club secretary to implement content ideas and ensure the website was easy to update and manage.

The approach

1. Initial design

I decided upon WordPress as this allowed the club to edit the content themselves to promote future events and game days . After this had been agreed i worked on a simple homepage to convey some ideas and some club identity using photographs from their facebook page. I used the football club’s existing content to help plan out the layout. This acted as a talking point to discuss content options and features accordingly.

I worked with the club to decide the navigation and content accordingly. As a starting point a simple one page website was agreed which met the main reasons for the club to require a website.

The first phase of the club website is now up and live. It will evolve over time as the club. Take a look at yattonjfc.co.uk
